Instead of continuing into a hall, I added a portal to the back of the room, which will transport players to the stretch leading up to ChoGalls arena.

Beyond the lore and world, the thing I love most about it are the dungeons and raids.

Back in the cliched good ol days, while Blizzard was still new and dungeon design, each of the great halls of antiquity were not only highly entertaining, but they felt like real places in the game world, with dozens of creatures and denizens, all garnished with some great art design and architecture.

While Im not saying newer dungeons are bad, but, especially with Cataclysm, these instances, especially the raids, feel like simply sets for combat and boss encounters, without being especially interesting in terms of physical layout.

The fantastic art assets, boss design, and story are all there, constantly improving as Blizzard makes new content.

Instead of sprawling raids like Karazhan, we have corridor-boss-corridor raids, like the Bastion of Twilight.

Without touching the artistic vision, boss encounters, and trash, Ive redesigned the physical layout of the Bastion of Twilight, which is, in my opinion, the worst laid-out raid in all of WoW (ToC not included).

What is supposed the great headquarters of the Twilight Cult sure is a small stretch of halls and large rooms.

Id like to note that although the raid is bigger in terms of gameplay space, it doesnt mean there is more trash or more time wasted.

Trash that was condensed in areas are now spread out among separate halls.

Because you enter BoT through a portal on top of the spire which teleports you to some unspecified location underground, I thought itd be fun to start the raid on the platform with the same design.

From there, the first room, the Bastion Antechamber, is the exact same design as the one from the original.

I liked the design of the room, but I felt the trash within was too condensed.

So some of the trash will actually be moved to meet the players at the tiny bridge between the portal and the antechamber, with the remaining trash in the chamber itself and in the following hallway.

I felt that the original BoT, while very pretty to look at, felt closed in for an area that hinted at having huge, expansive chasms.

As players go down these stairs, renamed the Burning Descent, they will be surrounded by open cavern and lava that stretches beyond the game engines distance fog.

Players are once again indoors and have a staircase to walk up, along with trash to fight over a balcony.

I wanted to emulate the large room that precedes the opera in Karazhan, while keeping the aesthetic of BoT in place.

While its not as expansive has Karas, along with the Burning Descent, this area provided enough buffer before facing the next boss.

I renamed the area the Twilight Expanse, which doesnt end after the battle with the twin Twilight dragons, but continues into the next map.

Up until this point, BoT wasnt too bad, but the layout of the halls leading to the last two bosses are just uninteresting.

Eventually, players will reach the next structure of the Bastion, the greatly expanded Sanctum of the Ascended.

Instead of just a round room, players will explore an interior and terrace area that house bound elementals.

Because the ascendants are very elementally-focused, I thought having an area with more room for the bound elementals to wander would add a nice change from the cultist-filled halls of the previous rooms.

Again, we have an indoor, corridor-like room which contains an outdoor terrace area.

I really enjoy dungeons that mix outdoor and indoor areas, as variety is key to keeping a long raid interesting.

Good eyes will notice that this terraces design is attempting to emulate the design of the Halfus and ValionaTheralions room.
